Listening, Learning, Supporting

History has proven that protests do not spur very rapid changes in society. Large protests don’t also count as the one and only tool for a progressive society that’s free of discrimination and racism. It takes a cumulative and sustained effort among many individuals and organizations over a long period of time, to establish a real impetus for change.

I’m not talking about going out there, hurting others and destroying property of people who are barely getting back on their feet from all the lockdowns. Those are crimes and NOT protests in the name of #blacklivesmatter #amplifymelanatedvoices or #peopleofcolor

For those who don’t want to join the peaceful protests on the streets, there’s a lot we can do. First of all, we can keep LISTENING to what people are saying with open hearts and open minds.

We need to keep LEARNING and respecting each other’s culture without judgement.

We have to continue SUPPORTING grassroots and causes that fight for equality among people regardless of race, color, sexual orientation, beliefs or religion.

We can donate to such organizations and quietly, if you prefer. Also, don’t forget to Vote for Representatives that help push for reforms on these issues.

Most of all, we can start at home and teach our children what racism means and what we can do to prevent it.

Whatever you do to prevent discrimination and racism, big or small, will make a difference. Don’t give up, Keep at it!

  1. People should not have to resort to large scale – or even small scale – protests to bring about change relating to discrimination over the colour of someone’s skin. I can’t help but think of the song, “We Are the World.” God forgive us for allowing it to go on for so long. ❤

Thanks for coming by today and for your kind words. I will visit you as soon as I can. Have a fantastic day and don't forget to smile. ~ Shey
